Our trip began with getting up a little early on Saturday morning to head to the airport. Where, of course, we got to wait in a long line to check our bags and get our boarding passes. However, I have to say that the security lines were not nearly as bad and we made it to our gate with enough time to get a bite to eat before boarding. OUr connecting flight was in Miami where we changed to a little peddle jumper plane. I've never been in a plane like that and I actually really liked it. After we landed we took a cab to the Harborside at Atlantis, which would be our home away from home for a week. The cab driver must have been use to picking up nothing but Spring-break party-ers because he suggested every kind of rum infused drink imaginable for us to try while we were there and that, if we wanted, we could pull over some where and get a beer. According to him drinking and drive is no biggie "everyone drinks and drives on the island, man!" That comment only made me question how much further it was to our hotel.
Our room at the Harbor side was awesome! It had a kitchen, living room, balcony, king size bed, and large bathroom. It even had a small area for a little dinning room table. Definitely more than enough room for the two of us. The Harborside is, as the name suggests, located right next to the main harbor by Atlantis and a little Harborside village (for tourists really that stay on Paradise Island) which has shops and a few resturaunts (Starbucks included, I was a fan of their coconut almond lattes . . . why doesn't the US jump on this?). Plus, because we were staying at the Harborside we had access to all the Atlantis. So we could go over and use their waterpark, casino (although all we did was play the slots, haha. Won 5 bucks. I know you're jealous), and the beaches.
We took advantage of everything and had a wonderful time relaxing all week. Some of the highlights were:
Drinking Guiness to celebrate St. Patty's day out on our balcony.
The large waterslide at Atlantis. I totally screamed on the way down. The steepness caught me by surprise!
Going to the aquarium. Granted the Atlantis is really one large aquarium, but this was a special section that was made to look like an archeological dig site of Atlantis. It had a Bahama loberster cage that was incredible and jelly fish.
Relaxing by the Harborside pool and spending time walking up and down the harbor. There were massive yachts docked there and we spent a lot of time picking out which ones we wanted to own one day.
